True stories

Ukraine: Defending Freedom shares powerful stories to those who’ve lost limbs in the war – survivors who are now rebuilding their lives with strength, dignity, and the support of the Superhumans Center.

Zakhar’s story

Zakhar’s story

Zakhar is one of the many brave Ukrainians that are making unimaginable sacrifices – risking their lives to protect their homeland and all of our freedom. Zakhar lost limbs in the war and is now rebuilding his life with strength, dignity, and the world-class care provided by Superhumans Center.

Denys’ story

Denys’ story

Across Ukraine, extraordinary individuals are risking everything – not just for their homeland, but for the values of freedom, democracy, and sovereignty that unite us all. Watch Denys’ moving testimony and hear his plea to the world to help Ukraine, to not stay silent, and to keep sharing the truth about this unjust war.

Eddy’s story

Eddy’s story

This is Eddy’s story – a British sailor turned volunteer, risking his life and safety to help civilians on the frontlines in Ukraine. According to Eddy, “The most important thing is continue to talk about Ukraine … I think all of us are tired, that doesn’t mean we can stop.”

Olena’s story

Olena’s story

Before the war, Olena worked at a bread factory. At 5am one morning her daughter called: “Mom, the war has started.” Later that day, a KAB bomb hit, and shrapnel tore off Olena’s leg. She now dreams of peace. “If Ukraine doesn’t hold the line, this will spread. People everywhere must unite — so this never reaches their homes.”

Misha’s story

Misha’s story

Misha was a waiter from Kherson before the war – now he’s a wounded soldier who refuses to give up on his future or his country. His story is a powerful reminder of Ukraine’s resilience, and why the world must not look away.

Superhumans helps Ukrainian military personnel and civilians affected by the war restore their health, physical activity, and psychological well-being. We provide high-quality prosthetics, rehabilitation, facial and limb reconstructive surgery, hearing restoration, and support for a full return to active life. The ultimate goal of our medical team is to discharge each patient with better outcomes than before the injury—empowering people to live fully again.
